A growing body of international evidence demonstrates that the conditions and environments in which young children grow, learn, and relate have lasting effects on health, education, and wellbeing throughout the life course. At the same time, education, health, and family support systems often operate in parallel — addressing consequences later rather than strengthening the early conditions that enable children, families, and communities to thrive.
Over a period of 6–12 months, participating institutions are expected to demonstrate:- strengthened awareness and capacity among educators and caregivers to recognise and respond to early functional and environmental risk factors affecting children’s development and readiness to learn;
- measurable improvements in the quality of early childhood education environments — including daily routines, physical settings, and family engagement practices — supporting children’s wellbeing, resilience, and healthy development;
- increased institutional confidence and coherence in applying integrated, prevention-oriented practices as part of everyday early childhood education, contributing to more inclusive and developmentally responsive learning ecosystems.
